How to Use BoothFix

BoothFix helps photo booth operators repair finished event photos when the wrong template or design was used.

Maybe the names were wrong, the date was incorrect, the wrong colours were used, or you simply loaded the wrong event template. You don’t need to rebuild every photo individually.

BoothFix keeps the guest photographs from your existing images and replaces the incorrect design with the correct template.

Your photos stay on your device and are processed locally in your browser.

Before You Start

You need two things:

1. Your finished photos

These are the photos produced at the event with the incorrect template. For example:

• IMG_001.jpg
• IMG_002.jpg
• IMG_003.jpg

You can upload the whole event at once.

2. Your correct template

This is the design that should have been used. It can be a normal:

• JPG
• JPEG
• PNG

The template does not need to be transparent.

1Upload Your Photos

Select Fix My Photos, then upload the finished event photos containing the incorrect design. You can select multiple photos at once.

BoothFix will check the files and show you how many are ready, for example: 187 photos ready.

It will also check that the photos have matching dimensions. If BoothFix finds a photograph with a different size, it will highlight it so you can remove it before continuing. Your original files are not changed.

2Upload the Correct Template

Upload the template that should have been used at the event.

Remember:

• It does not need to be transparent.
• A normal finished JPG or PNG template is fine.

BoothFix compares the template dimensions with your event photos. If they match, you’ll see: ✓ Perfect match.

If they don’t match, BoothFix will ask you to choose another template. BoothFix will not automatically stretch or resize an incorrect template.

Find the Photo Areas

BoothFix needs to know which parts of the finished images contain the actual guest photographs. These are the areas BoothFix will keep. Everything outside these areas will be replaced by your new template.

Find them automatically

The easiest option is Find Photo Areas Automatically. BoothFix compares several photos from your event. Because the template remains the same while the people in the photographs change, BoothFix can identify the areas that are likely to contain guest photos.

You may see: We found 3 likely photo areas. Check every suggested area before continuing.

Automatic detection is designed to save time, but you should always make sure the boxes line up correctly.

Using the Magic Wand

If BoothFix misses a photo area, select Magic Wand, then tap or click somewhere inside the photograph. BoothFix will try to find the surrounding photo area for you. You can then adjust the suggested box if necessary.

This is particularly useful when using BoothFix on a phone or tablet.

Drawing a photo area manually

If automatic detection doesn’t find an area correctly, you can draw it yourself. Select Add Photo Area or draw directly over the photograph where available. Place the box around the part of the image containing the guest photo.

Only the pixels inside these areas will be preserved.

Getting the alignment right

This is the most important part of the repair. Try to position each box exactly on the boundary between the guest photograph and the old template.

• Drag the box
• Resize it
• Zoom into the image
• Enter exact coordinates
• Nudge the box by individual pixels
• Fine-tune each edge

For the best results, zoom into the edges and check them carefully.

Using 1 px fine tuning

If you’re very close but can still see a thin line from the old template, use the precision controls. You can move an area by 1 px, 5 px or 10 px. For very small corrections, always use 1 px. On a computer you can also use the arrow keys for precise adjustments.

Trim Photo Edge

Sometimes the selected photo area contains one or two pixels of the old template around its edge. Use Trim Photo Edge. You can adjust Top, Right, Bottom and Left. For example: Top 2 px, Right 2 px, Bottom 2 px, Left 2 px.

BoothFix will preserve slightly less of the old image, allowing the correct template to cover those unwanted edge pixels. Start with 1–2 px rather than making a large adjustment.

Aligning on a phone

BoothFix includes mobile precision controls to make alignment easier:

• Pinch — zoom in and out
• Drag — move around the image
• 1 px controls — make very small adjustments
• Magic Wand — tap inside a photograph to find its area
• Fine Tune — adjust individual edges

Zoom right into the border before making your final adjustment. If your finger covers the edge you’re trying to position, use the magnifier or 1 px controls rather than dragging.

Check the Preview

Before repairing the entire event, BoothFix creates a preview. Use Before & After to compare the incorrect image with the repaired version.

You can also use Side by Side and Repaired Only. Zoom into the repaired photograph and inspect every edge.

You’re looking for:

• Pieces of the old template
• Thin lines around photographs
• Incorrectly positioned photo boxes
• Parts of photographs accidentally covered by the new template

Check more than one photo

Don’t check only the first image. Use Previous, Next or Random Photo to test the repair on several photographs from the event.

The same photo areas will be applied to every image, so checking several different photographs is a good way to make sure the alignment is correct.

Repair the Event

Once you’re happy with the preview, select Repair All Photos. BoothFix will process the event. You’ll see progress such as: 143 of 187 repaired.

You can also see which photograph is currently being processed. If an individual file cannot be processed, BoothFix should continue with the rest of the event. You can retry failed photographs afterwards.

Download Your Fixed Photos

When processing finishes you’ll see: Your photos are fixed!

Select Download All as ZIP to download all the repaired photographs together. You can also download individual photographs. Your original files remain untouched.

Keeping original filenames

By default, BoothFix can keep the original filenames. For example: IMG_0047.jpg.

You can alternatively choose Add “-fixed” to filenames, which creates: IMG_0047-fixed.jpg. Using the “-fixed” option can make it easier to distinguish repaired files from the originals.

Save Your Layout

If you regularly use the same photo booth layout, save the photo areas once you’ve aligned them correctly. Select Save This Layout.

Give it a useful name, such as:

• Magic Mirror – 3 Photo Portrait
• Vintage Booth – 4 Photo Landscape

The next time BoothFix sees images with matching dimensions, it can offer the saved layout. This can turn future repairs into a very quick process.

Saved layouts are stored on your current device/browser.

What BoothFix Does to Your Photos

BoothFix does not generate replacement photographs. It does not use AI to recreate your guests.

For every finished image, BoothFix simply:

1. Keeps the pixels inside your selected photo areas.
2. Replaces everything outside them with your correct template.

That’s why getting the photo-area alignment right is important.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Does my template need to be transparent?

No. This is one of the main advantages of BoothFix. You can upload the normal finished JPG or PNG template that you intended to use at the event. BoothFix does not require a transparent PNG.

Why does my template say it doesn’t match?

The replacement template must have exactly the same pixel dimensions as your finished photographs. For example, 1200 × 1800 → 1200 × 1800 is correct, but 1200 × 1800 → 1800 × 1200 is not.

BoothFix deliberately doesn’t resize mismatched templates because resizing could move the photo areas and produce an incorrect repair.

I can still see part of the old template

This normally means one of your photo-area boxes extends slightly too far. Go back to Mark Photo Areas, zoom into the affected edge, then either move the edge by 1 px, resize the area slightly, or use Trim Photo Edge. Check the preview again before repairing the whole event.

Part of the guest photo has disappeared

Your selected photo area is probably slightly too small. Return to Mark Photo Areas, increase the appropriate edge by a few pixels and check the preview again. Use 1 px adjustments when you’re close.

Automatic detection didn’t find the correct areas

That’s okay. Automatic detection is a helper rather than a requirement. Try Magic Wand and tap inside the missing photograph. If that doesn’t give the result you need, draw the area manually and use the precision controls to align it.

Are my event photos uploaded anywhere?

BoothFix’s current processing mode works locally in your browser. Your event photos stay on your device. They are not uploaded to BoothFix simply to perform the repair. This is particularly useful for private wedding, school, corporate and party photographs.

Best Results Checklist

Before selecting Repair All Photos, check:

• The new template has exactly the same dimensions as the event photos.
• Every guest-photo area has been identified.
• Each box is aligned with the actual photograph.
• You’ve zoomed in and checked the edges.
• You’ve tested several different event photos.
• The Before & After preview looks correct.

Once those checks are complete, you’re ready to repair the event.
